First You, Now the Internet

First YOU get an award, now the Internet might get one! Yes, THAT Internet! What's with all these incomprehensibly large and theoretical entities getting stuff, and when do they ship me mine?

Also, question: does the Internet count as a pronoun by now? I think it does. Oxford, listen up.

A Day Without Cats: The Battle for the Soul of Teh Internetz

"It's 9/9/9. September has 9 letters, Wednesday has 9 and its the 252 day of the year added equal 9." --@MarketTraders

Why is today so important? There's that first statement from some crackpot on Twitter. There are also some who say the gods decreed that cats will have a day off on their most sacred numbered day--9/9/09. Nine lives. Whether these gods were Egyptian, Etruscan, or Catholic, I do not know. We'll say probably all of them. Most religions have pretty similar stories, don't they?

I would have ignored the signs. I might have been Jonahesque. Then I saw this video:

So while I do not normally post pictures of cats, and I hardly email them, I will support Urlesque and their cult. No cats today. At all. I have one rule: this eagle does not commit hubris.

Today, Social Media Services Were Attacked and Our Innocence Destroyed

Today is a day that will be live-blogged in infamy. Early this August morning, Twitter was attacked. (Tweettacked? Pecked?) Facebook was immediately affected, as were probably a few hundred thousand iPhone Twitter apps. No one knew what to do. Our generation was at its social knees, and no one even knew if Ms. Sonia Sotomayor was going to be approved or not as a Supreme Court Justice.

Though, personally, I thought she was a shoe-in. I mean, I thought she was already promoted Chief Justice weeks ago. A lot happens in weeks and weeks of dry C-SPAN procedure--

Well, that's a lie. Let's catch these perpetrators soon.

Learn Something (from Amy Sedaris and a Ton of People Like Me, Only Less Feathery)

PBS is doing a history of comedy every Wednesday, 7-9, for the next few weeks. Of course, I watch it online to avoid the phone donation brigades.
