You know, I realized that, before college, I never really bothered with Mardi Gras. It's not all that big in Chicago. It's big in New Orleans and on college campuses.
See, in Chicago, the most important holiday is St. Patrick's Day. I've
always celebrated St. Patrick's day. Back when I was really young, leprechauns would hide candy and small gifts for me... you dirty dirty person! I don't make pooping leprechaun jokes when I come over to
your house!
Anyway, a true Chicagoan celebrates St. Patrick's Day the hardest... but this year, this Mardi Gras, take a little time out and raise a glass today to New "Make Levees, Not War" Orleans. They deserve it.
